This qualification reflects the role of a variety of workers who can use a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge to provide assistance to health professional staff for the care of clients. Health services assistance involves the worker in direct client contact under supervision.

All Group B electives must be selected for award of the Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assisting in nursing work in acute care). To achieve this qualification with this specialisation, the candidate must have completed at least 80 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the unit of competency.

All Student must be aged 18 years of age or over at the time of applying for admission in the Institute.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy Requirements
It is expected that students demonstrate language, literacy and numeracy skills at the appropriate level to be able to succeed in the course.
Additional support will be available for those with low LL&N skills identified through the pre-entry test.
The student would need the following skills:
- Oral communication for verbal reports/group work.
- Written communication for written assignments
- Numeracy to complete numeracy tasks in class.
Literacy skills to gain knowledge through reading and the use of media and technology.
Minimum Academic Requirements
Satisfactory Completion of Equivalent to Australian Year 12 qualification. Relevant work experience will be taken into consideration
Minimum English requirements
IELTS (Academic): minimum overall band of 5.5 (with no individual band below 5.0)
PTE (Pearson Test of English) (Academic): minimum score of 46 (with no band less than 42)
Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) score of 47
TOEFL Internet Based Test (IBT) score of 62
- International Student must meet the requirement for the student Visa (i.e., Subclass 500) and:
- Be of good character with genuine interest to undertake the qualification
- Are of sound health
- Must be able to undertake a minimum of 20-hours of classroom training per week.
- Have acceptable health insurance through the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for self and any family members accompanying student to Australia.
- Demonstrate the capacity to meet basic living costs requirements set by the Australian Government
- Have a genuine intent of studying

Requirements for Work Placement
A Police Clearance Certificate is mandatory prior to your work placement; Student must undertake a Federal Police Check (AFP) or NSW Police check
(Police Check/AFP must be no less than 12 months old).

Working with Children check
Relevant immunisation check (as per NSW health guidelines) These checks must be completed at the start of the course and prior to industry work placement. Students must be physically able to do moderate amount of lifting using the appropriate equipment. The students should not have any mobility, hearing, and vision problems to carry out duties efficiently in the hospital or community care settings whilst at placement.
We Offer Credit Transfer (CT) to Individuals who can provide documentary evidence of prior formal study pertaining to the unit of competency. Candidate with prior experience can be assessed with RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning). CT is for free of charge and fees applies for the RPL.
